THIS TOO SHALL PASS
“This Too Shall Pass”, این نیز بگذرد is a phrase of Persian origin, adopted by Jews and Christians, until it has become a XX century Western Buddhism truism. The last one identified and canonized the act of sitting as a meditation cradle and a gateway to Enlightenment.
I saw these car chairs outside a flat tire shop in Phnom Penh in 2017. The association proved to be irresistible. It has also become a confirmation for my long time intuition of a phenomenon of industrial unconscious. Far from being rational and functional, our designs are shaped by subliminal factors of faith and desire. I made this sculpture next year.
